Police searching for killer in Baytown murder

Police hope surveillance video will help with their case

HOUSTON - There is a desperate plea for help from Baytown police as they continue to search for a killer.

Officials said there are no suspects in the brutal murder of 66-year-old Danny Carl Mullen.

Baytown police responded to an early morning call about shots being fired near the intersection of Laredo and Chesapeake on May 20.

They discovered Mullen's body in the middle of the street.

According to Mullen's family, he was an ex-police officer in Florida.

Surveillance video shows Mullen wearing a peach colored shirt and khaki pants at a nearby gas station earlier in the evening. Mullen left the store with a man who was driving a tan Chevy or Ford pickup truck.

Police are also searching for two men who entered the convenience store a few minutes later. They left in a gray four-door vehicle. One was wearing a red shirt and the other was wearing a gray shirt.

The Baytown Police Department is asking for help identifying these men.
