Man wounded in drive-by shooting

HOUSTON - Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in southeast Houston that left one man wounded.

Houston police said officers responded to a shopping mall at Cullen Street near Reed Street around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon arrival, police found a man who had been shot several times. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police say the shooting took place at the Cullen Park apartments at Wenda Street. The victim was able to drive away and pull into the shopping center, where he collapsed and someone called 911.

Houston police went to the apartment building and neighbors pointed to a white vehicle. Officers tried to stop the car.

Police say the driver pulled into a driveway and got out running.

Houston police searched the area for the man, but could not find him.
