As police were called to investigate the shooting, they spotted a vehicle speeding away from the area where shots had been fired, officers said.

They stopped the car and detained the people inside for questioning, but no arrests were made. Police say the shooters remain at large.

The victim -- whose name has not been released -- was pronounced dead before he could be taken to a hospital.

Witnesses said several men entered the victim’s apartment and demanded property at gunpoint.
