HOUSTON - The Houston Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that resulted in a car accident.

It happened at around 12:30 a.m Sunday on the 8600 block of Bissonnet Street.

The driver was 22-year-old Aaron James Francis, according to HPD. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.

The passengers told police they had just bought food from a nearby Whataburger and were driving to the strip center parking lot when another vehicle cut them off.

Authorities say Francis exchanged words with the other driver. That's when a passenger in the back seat of the second car pulled a gun and shot Francis, according to investigators.

Police say after Francis was shot, he accelerated his vehicle, sped out of control and struck the wall of a church.

The suspects are described as two black men and one black woman.

The gunman's vehicle is described as a white four-door sedan and is possibly a Toyota Camry. Police say it was last seen speeding west on Bissonnet.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
