Deputies: Drunk driver kills 1, sends 9 to hospital after crashing into truck

HOUSTON - Deputies say one person died and nine others, including two children, were transported to the hospital after a drunken driver slammed into a pickup truck Saturday night.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. at Gears Road and Crown Park.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, a Mitsubishi was traveling westbound on Gears Road when it veered into an eastbound lanes and hit a Ford pickup head-on.

The front passenger in the Mitsubishi died on scene and the driver and rear passenger were taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to deputies. All seven people inside the pickup truck were taken to various hospitals. Deputies said some were in serious or critical condition.

Officials said the Mitsubishi's driver was intoxicated and will face intoxication manslaughter charges.
