Police said a Chevrolet Silverado and Jeep Wrangler were eastbound on the South Loop in the same lane, with the truck behind the Jeep.
The driver of the Jeep told police that the driver of the truck attempted to pass on the left side and then get in front of him, but the truck struck the front of the Jeep and the driver of the truck lost control, causing the vehicle to crash through a guardrail, according to authorities.
The truck flipped off the South Loop and landed on the feeder, blocking all of the feeder lanes in the area, police said.
The 34-year-old man who was driving the truck was killed, officials said.
