Couple tied up during home invasion

HOUSTON - A couple arrived at their northeast Houston home after a grocery shopping trip and were met by men with guns.

Houston police said the attack happened on McDaniel near Irvington about noon Friday.

Investigators said the husband was pistol-whipped and the he and his wife were tied up.

Mary Torres said she won't forget having a pistol shoved against her head or the images of her husband being beaten.

Torres said she saw strangers in her front doorway as she was about to begin cooking. She said the men demanded money from her husband and ordered her to take off her jewelry.

Torres said the men also demanded the keys to their vehicle and their identification cards. She said the men threatened to kill them if they told anyone about the robbery.

Before the men left, they tied up the couple with electrical cords. Ten minutes after the men got away, Torres said she ran into the street crying with her hands still bound.

Neighbors helped untie Torres and called police.

Descriptions of the men have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
