BAYTOWN, Texas - Two shoplifting suspects are accused of leading police on a chase that killed a 16-year-old boy Friday night.

Baytown Police say 35-year-old Jennifer Rene Jenkins stole a comforter and pillows from a Sears store in the 6900 block of Garth Road. Officers say she walked out of the store with the merchandise and got into a pick-up truck driven by 43-year-old Shannon Joe Chauncey.

Police said they then found the couple shoplifting from a nearby Academy Store.

Once in their pick-up police closed in to make an arrest.

Investigators say Chauncey backed up the truck, hit a police car and took off down Garth Road. Police say the suspects' truck hit a car on Garth and Rollingbrook.

The 17-year-old driver of the car hit was sent to the hospital in critical condition. The passenger, 16-year-old Shawn Williams, was killed.

"I didn't get to say goodbye or tell him that I loved him," Tyler Williams, Shawn's sister, said. "I saw it on Twitter and everything. It said there was an accident and one of the cars caught on fire by a 24 hour fitness, and it was right around the time that I heard my brother had been in an accident."

Williams was getting a ride home from work with his friend when the crashed happened and was less than five minutes away from home.

"My mom and my dad, they don't want to bury their son, my younger brother, he doesn't want to bury his brother," said his sister.

A small memorial now stands at the site of the deadly crash.  Family and friends stopped by the site to remember Shawn.

"Whenever he walked into a room, it got brighter," said Kelsie Walsinghan.  "He always had a compliment to give someone if they were upset.  Of all people, him, the one person you can't imagine your life without.  He just has to leave?"

Stepping in front of a magistrate Saturday afternoon, Chauncey faced a felony charge of evading arrest resulting in death. Chauncy was denied bail. The driver of the vehicle hit was also taken to the hospital and treated for injuries, along with the second suspect.
