Convenience store burglarized twice in 10 days

WEBSTER, Texas - Employees at a convenience store are worried after two break-ins in 10 days.

Webster police said thieves targeted the Sunny's store in the 17600 block of El Camino Real Boulevard.

Surveillance cameras caught images of the thieves in action.

The first burglary happened about 2:50 a.m. on May 26.

Video showed a group of men use slabs of concrete, which police suspect were stolen from a construction site across the street, to bus through the front door of the store.

Two men stormed into the store with garbage bags in hand while the other two served as lookouts.

"They had masks and gloves," manager AsifaliĀ  Momin said. "They were full-covered."

The men were in the store for about 45 seconds. In that time, they stole cash, cigarettes and snacks, police said.

Detectives said the burglars came back about 1:45 a.m. on June 5. Investigators said the thieves smashed through a side window to get into the store.

The men took more cash and a bunch of lottery tickets, police said.

Momin, who has worked at the store since it opened in 1998, said he is worried about his safety.

"This is quite a good neighborhood," he said. "Things like that don't happen. It makes me angry because these things shouldn't happen to anybody."

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call Webster police at 281-332-2426.
