HOUSTON - U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas is in talks with President-elect Donald Trump's transition team to become secretary of homeland security, according to NBC News.
McCaul represents District 10, which includes parts of Harris and Waller counties.
He is also chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick told KPRC 2 Wednesday night that McCaul could be a good fit.
"I think Michael McCaul, congressman, who is the chairman of the homeland security committee, would be a great homeland security director," Patrick said.
McCaul was re-elected Tuesday with 57 percent of the vote in District 10.
