Clemens helps fallen Constable's family

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Roger 'The Rocket' Clemens honored the family of a victim of a shooting that captured headlines not long ago.

The baseball great went to College Station to honor Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann's family. Bachmann and two others were killed as he was serving an eviction notice last August. His death left his wife without her husband and two children without their dad.

"I lost my dad at a young age. My dad died of a heart attack when I was 9. I was raised by strong women," said Clemens.

Clemens told KPRC Local 2 that he talked with Bachmann's son.

"I said, 'Do you play ball?' He says, 'Well, I did. But now I'm umpiring. I'm an umpire. I'm going to umpire school and I'm doing some umpiring.' I got a big smile on my face with that one. So, I told him that once the Astros get underway this year and they can make it, come on down, we'll get us some Astro tickets and I guess I'll go to the umpire's room and get him some gear or something."

Clemens said he was honored that Harris County Precinct Four's Constable invited him to meet with the family.

"This is going to be their first Christmas without their father. So, it all worked out. It's what we do with our foundation."
