Child found in Willis; social media helps locate family

WILLIS - Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies used the power of social media to locate the family of an 2-year-old child after she was found wandering in just a diaper.

Authorities said two sisters found the child playing with dogs in the 13800 block of Brontes Court in Willis on Tuesday.

At about 7:30 p.m., the sheriff's office shared a Facebook post with a photo of the child. Authorities were asking anyone with information to contact them immediately.

At about 8:10 p.m., the sheriff's office updated its post saying the child's parents were located thanks to people sharing the post on social media.

Authorities said the child's mother was asleep in a residence close to where the child was found, authorities said.

It is not known how the child got outside.
