Cause of death in Heights bones case undetermined, investigators say

HOUSTON – Investigators on Thursday listed the cause of death as undetermined in the case of skeletal remains that were found inside a Heights home earlier this year.

The bones were found March 4 in a crawl space of the Allston Street home by new owners. They were working in the attic when a board gave way and exposed the remains.

While there has been no positive identification of the remains, investigators said they believe the bones may belong to Mary Cerruti, 61, who once owned the home.

Investigators said they are not certain when Cerruti disappeared, but her house was foreclosed on in early 2015.

The 1,161-square-foot home was placed on the market after being remodeled.
