Carjacking suspect arrested after chase ends in crash

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man was arrested Tuesday after a chase in a stolen car ended in a crash in northwest Harris County, authorities said.

Police said an officer spotted a red car that fit the description of a vehicle that had been taken in a carjacking from the parking lot of a Target store off Highway 290 near Hollister. When the officer tried to pull over the driver, he sped away, police said.

The chase ended when the man crashed into a front yard and hit two vehicles in the driveway of a home in the 6700 block of Clemson.

Police said the driver ran away from the scene. Officers used K-9s to find the man and arrest him.

Residents said they're fortunate no one was hurt.

"I just heard swerving and a huge boom, I can tell you that," homeowner Freddie Dominguez said.

Police said they also found another empty car near the Target store in which they believe three men were waiting.

Police said they believe the three men and the man involved in the crash were planning to steal another car before the officer tried to stop them.
