Boy, 3, crashes van into neighbor's house

HOUSTON - A Houston man is cleaning up and having to rebuild part of his home after a 3-year-old boy managed to drive a van into it.

It happened late Sunday night near the intersection of Twinbrooke Drive and Ella in north Houston.

"I started looking at the TV for a little bit and then boom," Rene Ramirez said. "I didn't know what happened.  I just heard a big boom."

Ramirez ran outside and says that he found his neighbor's son in the driver's seat.

The boy's father told Ramirez that the boy got behind the wheel while he was putting the jumper cables away, and then put the van in gear.

The little boy didn't drive far -- just from one house to the next.

There was a good amount of damage to the front of Ramirez's home and his mailbox was mowed down during the incident.

Ramirez says he's just thankful no one was hurt.
