Blood drive held for HPD officer injured in motorcycle accident

HOUSTON - A blood drive has been organized for Houston Police Department officer who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.

Officer Linda Tweedie's husband, retired HPD officer Dana Tweedie was killed in Saturday's wreck.

The Galveston Municipal Police Association and the Houston Police Officer's Union organized the drive.

The University of Texas Medical Branch Mobile Blood Bank will be at the places listed below:

  • March 7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the HPOU Hall,1600 State Street; Houston, Texas

  • March 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Galveston Police Department, 601 54th Street, Galveston, Texas

Brisket or sausage lunches will be sold for $7 at the March 8 blood drive. All proceeds from food sales will go to the Tweedie family.

If you cannot make either of the blood drives but would still like to donate to the Tweedie family's medical expenses you may send cash or checks payable to HPOU to the Houston Police Officer's Union at 1600 State Street, Houston Texas 77007.

If sending a check please note "Tweedie" in the memo; 100 percent of the funds will go to the Tweedie family.
