Bingo parlor raided in Harris County

HOUSTON – Investigators from the Harris County District Attorney's Office raided a Bingo parlor in the City of South Houston Wednesday, in what is being described as an "organized crime investigation," a spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

Officers swarmed Paradise Bingo, located on the 1500 block of Paradise Avenue. Among items seized were several guns and boxes containing what appeared to be documents, according to a KPRC2 crew at the scene.

Several signs noting that the business had been seized by the Harris County District Attorney's Office were posted.

A spokesman for District Attorney Devon Anderson told KPRC2 that several people have been taken in for questioning. A total number was not given because the investigation is still ongoing and more people could be brought in for questioning.

Michael Terry runs a janitorial service that cleans Paradise Bingo. He said his wife was arrested Wednesday morning. He said she manages the bingo parlor.

"I came out of the bedroom. They told me to get my wife. They asked her if she knew she had a warrant, for her arrest. And, of course, no. They told her they're taking her in. They took her out to the car," he said.

A spokesman from the Harris County District Attorney's Office would not give more details about the extent of this investigation, telling KPRC2 more information should be released in the coming days.
