Bicyclist hit, killed by Amtrak train

Officials said the pedestrian, who was on railroad property, was killed and no one on the train was hurt

STAFFORD, Texas - A bicyclist is dead after being hit by a train in Stafford.

Police said the Amtrak train was traveling from New Orleans to Los Angeles when it hit the man on Highway 90 at Murphy Road around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials said the man was hit while on his bicycle as he crossed the road.

Eighty passengers were on the train, according to police. None of them were hurt.

While Missouri City police were helping investigate the accident, a driver, who didn't see the roadblock, slammed into a police cruiser.

Authorities said one officer was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The driver totaled his car and was given a ticket.

The train later continued on its journey to LA.
