Bicyclist dies after colliding with car

HOUSTON - A bicyclist died after he collided with a car in northeast Houston.

Houston police said a bicyclist rode in front of a car that was traveling northbound on Jensen near Collingsworth shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

"He didn't stop at at the stop sign or nothing," driver Phyllis Broussard said. "He just came out of nowhere. I tried to swerve to miss him, but he kept going and I ended up hitting him."

Broussard said the bicyclist rolled on top of her windshield.

The bicyclist, believed to be in his 30s, died. His name has not been released.

Broussard stopped and was questioned by officers. Nobody in the car was hurt.

"My nerve is shook because I ain't never been in no accident," Broussard said. "This is my first time for everything, and it just shook me real deeply."

According to Houston police, Broussard passed a field-sobriety test administered at the scene. No charges have been filed.
