HOUSTON - A Katy mother said her SUV was stolen while she and her daughters shopped at the Memorial City Mall.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon while they were inside the American Girl store.
"We were in there about an hour," Whitney Walhof said. "When we came out to pick up our car, it was gone. We were told our keys had been stolen from the valet stand and our car had been taken."
The missing SUV is a 2016 silver Ford Explorer, but it's what's inside that has Walhof most upset: two flower girl dresses for her daughters, who are going to be in a wedding, and a sentimental Bible.
"If you need a Bible worse than we do, we understand, but there were personal notes in there and we'd like to have it back," she said.
It's still unclear what happened to the SUV. Channel 2 reached out to Memorial City Mall and Parking Management Services but the calls were not returned.
In the meantime, the valet company has paid for a rental SUV so Whitney and her family can get around.
"The valet company has been very helpful," Walhof said. "We would just like the contents back from the car."
The Houston Police Department is investigating.
