Baytown police offer new info in investigation of Asst. Chief Deputy Clint Greenwood's death

BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police held a press conference on Friday, giving an update to the public about the investigation surrounding Assistant Chief Deputy Clint Greenwood's death.

Lieutenant Steve Dorris said multiple agencies are working non-stop on the April 3 murder of Greenwood.

"Assistant Chief Deputy Greenwood touched a lot of people's lives. He was an extremely talented and smart man. Pressure is there for all of us (to solve the case) because we are all passionate about it," Dorris said. "Obviously we want to get it done as fast as we can (the investigation). We have a killer out there and the most important thing is we need to get him off the streets and brought to justice."

Dorris said police were asking for surrounding businesses to review their surveillance video cameras to see if the suspect vehicle shows up on the footage.

"Obviously one of the things we want to know is which way he left. Where did he go. That's going to help us identify who he is. So its very important that we have that (video)," Dorris said. "If hes on video here in Baytown, he’s on video in other places. That's why its so important we get the public's help."

Investigators said, with high confidence, that they believe the vehicle to be a black 2013-2017 Nissan Versa Note.

If anyone has video they believe to be the suspect vehicle, they are asked to send their contact information to police.

Police said they believe pre-operational planning was used by the suspect in the slaying.

Police released another surveillance video on Tuesday of a possible suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of Greenwood.

Greenwood, 57, was killed Monday morning in a shooting near the Harris County government building in Baytown, police said.

Officials said that at 7 a.m. police were called to the 700 block of West Baker Road, where the 30-year veteran had been shot at least once on his way to work.

Greenwood was taken to Memorial Hermann, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The motive of the shooting is currently unknown.

Police released a different surveillance video of the suspect vehicle on Monday.

Numerous federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are assisting in the investigation to find the shooter.

Greenwood was once a major with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said they don't know why he was attacked, but they plan to find out.
