Bank robbery suspects arrested at cemetery

3 men taken into custody after chase

HOUSTON – Three bank robbery suspects were arrested after a police chase ended in a west Houston cemetery, investigators said.

Houston police said two men held up the Amegy Bank in the 1500 block of Eldridge Parkway on Wednesday morning.

A woman was in the bank during the robbery said the men held her hostage.

"My heart is still beating fast," she said. "He just ran in and pointed the gun at us, jumped over the counter. They got the money and ran out."

Officers said they spotted the suspects and the getaway driver and tried to stop them, but the trio led them on a chase that lasted less than 10 minutes.

The chase ended at Forest Park Cemetery in the 2400 block of South Dairy Ashford, police said. Several headstones were damaged or destroyed.

"It's horrible. How could do do that? People lost that person they ran over. It's like going through it again," Diana Santarose said.

Two guns and money stolen from the bank were found in the suspects' car, police said.

All three suspects were taken into custody. Their names have not been released.
