Bank jugging suspect on the run, police say

Desmond Eugene has eight open warrants

HOUSTON – Police are asking for help in finding a Northeast Houston man wanted on eight open warrants.

Desmond Eugene is one of three men accused of following a man from a Houston-area bank to target him for theft on Feb. 7.

This crime is known as bank jugging.

Police said Eugene and two other men broke into the man's vehicle and stole his property. Police later arrested Eugene and charged him with engaging in criminal activity and evading arrest.

He was released after posting more than $100,000 in bonds.

Ten days later, Eugene was arrested in Oklahoma. He's charged with being in possession of a firearm as a felon, transporting a loaded firearm and narcotics-related charges.

Eugene posted bond.

On March 2, Eugene was detained in another bank jugging investigation in San Antonio, after he was suspected of stealing $5,000 from a bank customer. Police said in this incident, Eugene gave a fake name and was charged with failure to identify.

Eugene did not show up for court in Harris County, Bexar County or in Oklahoma. 

Police said Eugene goes by the alias of "Snook."

Officers are asking anyone with information on Eugene's whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
