Baby born on day of Astros' World Series victory named after George Springer

HOUSTON – Most baseball fans will tell you that Game 7 of the World Series is one for the record books but it's also a nail-biter if your team is playing.

“I’ve been an Astros fan my entire life,” Dustin Harbert said.

Nov. 1 was a day Harbert has awaited for many years.

“I don’t think there’s ever been a team that I’ve rooted for that’s ever won a championship," he said.

Harbert watched that stressful championship game from a hospital room at his wife's bedside in Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, hours after another monumental moment in life.

“I said to my wife, ‘I don’t know if I was more nervous when you were giving birth or during the ninth inning of Game 7 because I was pacing back and forth during both,'" Harbert said.

Dustin and his wife welcomed their second child to the family on the same day that their favorite baseball team made history and dad had a game plan for a name months before.

“We found out we were pregnant and were very excited and I said, 'This is awesome. The Astros are going to win the World Series. We’re going to have a new baby and I’m going to name our baby after the World Series MVP,'" Harbert said. “George Springer is just an incredible player. He’s done well all year.”

So, what's in a name?

“Her name is Zoe Georgia Harbert. She was born at 4:46 p.m., November 1st. Weighed six pounds, nine ounces and she’s doing well," Harbert said. “It’s probably one of the biggest days in the history of the City of Houston and she’ll always be connected to that. She’ll always be connected to the City of Houston and the Houston Astros.”
