Memorabilia giveaway goes to support blood cancer research

Headline Goes Here

HOUSTON - Last weekend, two donors to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society were randomly selected to receive autographed balls donated by the Houston Texans and Houston Astros.

The signed Whitney Mercilus ball went to a local woman who gave in memory of her husband who survived for six years with a stem cell transplant.

The donor who was drawn for the baseball autographed by pitcher Lance McCullers wrote back to Eric saying, "Thank you for this message and hope your endeavors are successful!! We would like for KPRC to keep the baseball and put it in your auction, hopefully that will earn more (money) for your cause."

We got the donor’s response Thursday, so here’s what we’re going to do. As an added incentive to help us make the biggest impact for LLS, we’re going to give the ball away again. Donate Friday, and at the end of the day, another donor will be selected for the Lance McCullers autographed baseball.

All of the proceeds in this giveaway will go directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Braate's IRONMAN campaign.  Braate will be competing in the IRONMAN World Championship Triathlon on Saturday, Oct. 14 to bring awareness and raise research funds in the fight against blood cancers.
