HOUSTON - Homicide detectives with the Houston Police Department combed through a stretch of wooded trail in northwest Houston for clues about a badly decomposed body found by a passerby.

"It looks like they've been out here at least a few weeks," said Sgt. Christopher Hassig.

HPD received a 911 call from the passerby on Sunday around 3:15 p.m. The person had spotted the body near a wooded trail on the 3500 block of Paul Quinn St. near TC Jester.

"Based on the state of the body, we can't tell anything at this point," said Hassig.

Investigators have determined that the body is that of a woman, but they don't have an age. The body was fully clothed.

The Harris County Medical Examiner collected DNA evidence and will work to identify the body.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
