Body of missing woman found in Sam Houston National Forest, deputies say

WALKER COUNTY, Texas – The body of a missing woman was found Saturday in the Sam Houston National Forest.

Authorities were searching for the woman since Friday after her husband said she went missing.

Theresa Kirkpatrick, 55, and her husband went to the forest around 8 a.m.

Around 8:30 a.m., they were separated, according to authorities.

The husband searched for Theresa Kirkpatrick until he notified law enforcement, authorities said.

Deputies worked overnight Friday and Saturday morning for Theresa until her body was located, deputies said.

Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies released the following statement:

"It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that the body of Theresa Kirkpatrick was found this morning.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.

"Theresa was found deceased in the search area and our Detectives are on scene as this is still an active investigation.

"We are working with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office and will have an update as soon as we have more information to share.

"Thank you to the numerous law enforcement agencies and nonprofit organizations that assisted in locating Theresa"
