Police release sketch of man they say shot at officer

HOUSTON – Police are searching for a man who shot at an officer at an apartment complex Saturday night, officials said.

Authorities released a sketch of the shooter, and said he is described as black and about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with blond-colored twists in his hair.

Police believe he is in his late teens to early 20s.

Authorities said police responded to reports of a suspicious person in an apartment complex near Bentworth Drive and Waldemar Drive around 9:45 p.m.

An officer walking around the property noticed a man who fit the description of the suspicious person and attempted to talk to him, but the man fired at the officer with a pistol.

Police said Officer Frolik returned fire and the man fled.

Officials set up a perimeter in an attempt to find the shooter, but he got away. 

The incident is under investigation by the HPD Homicide Division and Internal Affairs Division.
