AUSTIN, Texas - Austin police tweeted Tuesday that they rescued a pet raccoon that had been locked in a hot car.  The tweet came with a reminder that as the temperatures rise, don't leave pets in hot cars.

The agency also followed up with a tweet that says "It's actually not legal to have a pet raccoon.  It's also not legal to leave any animal in a hot car.  Raccoon is now with Animal Control."
