2 passengers injured aboard Houston-bound flight from North Carolina

HOUSTON – One person was taken to a Houston hospital Thursday after injuries were reported aboard a flight that landed at Hobby Airport, authorities said.

Houston fire Capt. Ruy Lozano said that a 24-year-old woman suffered a head injury. She declined medical treatment at the airport.

Lozano said a 70-year-old man who fainted on the plane was taken to a hospital as a precaution. He originally said that CPR was performed on the man, but later retracted that statement.

Video from Sky 2 showed at least two emergency vehicles parked next to an airplane that was located between gates 43 and 45.

Lozano confirmed the flight was SWA 2233, which originated from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport in Morrisville, North Carolina.

A spokesman for Southwest Airlines said a woman seated in the back of the plane passed out before departing Raleigh-Durham. She was checked by emergency personnel in North Carolina and was cleared to fly.

The airline spokesman said that a man also passed out during the flight, and he received medical attention from the crew.

The incidents were not related to turbulence, the airline spokesman said.
