HOUSTON - The American Red Cross has some star power behind their latest Houston campaign to encourage people to give blood.

Astros outfielder Dexter Fowler is part of the "100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope" campaign.

"I'm excited and honored to partner with the Red Cross," said Fowler. "I'm looking forward to meeting fans and seeing the Houston community come together to help those in need."

Fowler hosted a blood drive at the Greater Houston Area Chapter Thursday.

Everyone who donated got Fowler's autograph and the opportunity to meet him.

Donors also got a chance to meet Local 2's Chester Pitts, one of the original Houston Texans.
