Armed cellphone store robbery caught on camera

HOUSTON - Authorities are searching for two people who robbed a cellphone store and threatened employees.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the men held up a Cricket store in the 3400 block of State Highway 6 South in Harris County about 8 p.m. on Feb. 8.

According to investigators, multiple surveillance cameras were rolling when the two men entered the store and approached the victims.

The first robber walked up to a man, held a knife to his throat and threatened to hurt him if he didn't open the store's safe. Investigators said the second robber grabbed a woman and pinned her to the floor of a back room. 

Once the first robber had emptied the store's safe, the pair left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, deputies said.


The first robber was identified as black, 28 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 140 to 160 pounds with braids in his hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, gloves and rectangular eyeglasses.

The second robber was identified as black, 28 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 140 to 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black mask, a white long-sleeved shirt under a black T-shirt, blue jeans and gloves.

Crime Stoppers says it will pay up to $5,000 for any information called in to the 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at that leads to the filing of felony charges or arrest of the suspects in this case.
