Also, victims can call United Way’s 211 line to find out if any of these charities can help. The job of the 211 service is to connect Harvey victims to these charities that have received money.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says there are no financial restrictions on who the charities can help. It is for anyone who is a Harvey victim regardless of income.

Officials said that a study by the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University guided their decisions on what the greatest recovery needs are. The study used FEMA data and data from calls to the 211 service.

In October, $7.55 million was given to 28 non-profit organizations aimed at helping those affected by the floods caused by Harvey.

Officials said they hope to have the third round of disbursements completed by January.

The fund will continue to collect donations through the end of the year.
