Ambulance overturns after being hit by car in Baytown area

BAYTOWN, Texas – Two medical students inside an ambulance were injured in a crash Thursday morning in the Baytown area.

Baytown police said the ambulance was hit by a car at 9:15 a.m. near Defee and Main streets. The med students were transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. There is no word on their condition.

The paramedics inside the ambulance were not injured.

Firefighters said the ambulance had its lights on and was on its way to a crash about five blocks from where it was T-boned.

The crash happened in front of Jack's Antiques and Collectibles. The owner said he was inside his business when the crash happened. 

"It sounded like a train hitting a vehicle. It was loud. It sounded like whatever it was, it was coming inside the store," Owner of Jacks Antiques and Collectibles Randy Briggs said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
