Alligator caught roaming in Sugar Land neighborhood

SUGAR LAND, Texas - Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to find an alligator underneath your car. It happened to one man in Sugar Land.

The tale of the Sugar Land gator started with a knock on the door.

"An officer knocked on our door about 4 a.m. and wanted to warn us we had a gator underneath our car," car owner Ashiq Ali said.

Ali said the gator was hiding under his car at Grand Haven and Jillian.

The alligator was spotted roaming around the neighborhood. It's believed it might have come out of a nearby bayou.

"If you stumbled on an alligator, if you were to walk out to your car they're not going to bite first. They'll always hiss to let you know 'Hey I'm here, don't step on me,'" The Gator Squad's Christy Kroboth said.

Once the gator was under control, Kroboth gave neighbors a lesson on gators and let them pet it.

Fortunately no one was hurt.
