HOUSTON - A man was fatally shot after an alleged robbery in a west Houston apartment complex

It happened around 3:55 a.m. Sunday at 11800 Beechnut Street.

Police say a man was woken up by a knock on his door when another unknown man led him to his friend lying in the parking lot.

The unknown man told the resident they had been robbed, according to authorities.

Police say the resident saw the shooting victim bleeding from his right side and called 911.

Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department took the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he later died.

The victim's identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
