Alief ISD student picked to join Alicia Keys team on 'The Voice' on Snapchat

HOUSTON – An Alief ISD student is headed to the finals in the social media version of the hit NBC show "The Voice."

This version takes place exclusively on Snapchat, but still includes judges Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

In January, 20,000 people submitted video auditions via VoiceSnaps.com and the judges each picked two people to join their team.

After hearing 16-year-old Alief Early College High School student Jamin Scott's version of John Legend's "Glory," Keys picked him for her squad.

"I love the tone of your voice. It's so beautiful," Keys told Scott in a video message.

For the next round, Scott had to battle against his teammate from Cincinnati and with the help of Snapchat votes from his Alief ISD classmates, he won.

"I'm happy thankful for everybody taking the time to vote for me," Scott said.

He competes against the three finalists from the other coaches' teams this Sunday.

His final song will be posted on the Snapchat Discover Channel Sunday and you can vote for Scott until April 11.

The grand prize is a trip to Los Angeles to appear on an episode of this season's show and an automatic audition for next season.
