HOUSTON - The 2014 Ebola outbreak is the largest in history, affecting multiple countries in West Africa, including Nigeria.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the outbreak is contained in Nigeria as of the beginning of October, with 20 confirmed cases and eight deaths. Liberia, on the other hand, has reported more than 3,400 cases of Ebola, and the virus is blamed for more than 1,800 deaths.

As a precaution, managers at George Bush Intercontinental Airport met ahead of a direct flight from Nigeria that arrived in Houston early Thursday morning. Authorities discussed plans to effectively screen for the Ebola virus.
