1 shot, 6 detained, after chase in north Houston

HOUSTON – Houston police are working on three crime scenes that they said are connected to a shooting and a chase in north Houston.

Police said they found a man with gunshot wounds at 3 a.m. Tuesday in a white pickup truck at Studewood and 11th Street in the Heights. Another man in the truck was taken into custody.

Authorities said officers spotted a suspicious car with bullet holes in the windshield leaving the area. They followed and tried to pull over the driver, but the driver, who had two passengers, led them on a chase that ended at Champan and Tarley.

The driver ended up in a ditch and all three were arrested.

Precinct 1 deputy constables found another car crashed with bullet holes in the windshield at Main and the North Loop. Police said a rifle was found in the back and they detained two men at that scene.

Investigators believe that it was a drug deal, but are working to figure out the sequence of events, including whether there was a shootout between three different groups.
