CLEVELAND, Liberty County - The Liberty County Sheriff's Office wants to know who allegedly fired shots at one of its deputies overnight.

The deputy was walking out of the court house annex building in Cleveland at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when he heard five gun shots.

The deputy said he was near his patrol car when two of the bullets struck the windshield, missing him by less than two feet. The deputy was not injured. The strike area of the other three bullets were not found.

The deputy said the gun shots appeared to have come from an apartment complex across the street from the annex building or possibly from a wooded area adjacent to the apartments.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office and the Cleveland Police Department are both investigating the incident.
