5 men arrested in meat market burglary

HOUSTON - Five men are in custody after, deputies said, they broke into a north Harris County meat market.

Investigators said the men broke into "La Guerrero Meat Market #2" around 3 a.m. Friday.

A silent alarm alerted deputies, who were just a few blocks away from the store on Aldine Mail Route near Chrisman.

Deputies arrived so quickly that they found four men inside and a fifth on the roof of the business.

Investigators said surveillance video from the 16 cameras inside the store showed some of the men crawling on the phone.

"They tried to break into my doors and break the safe, but they could not do nothing on it because it's very secure," store owner Nizar Ali said.

Ali said the men only got about $60 to $70 from the store.

Deputies said they also found tools the men used to get inside.

The men were identified as Fareed Barfield, 24, Byron Edwards, 19, William Pennington, 23, Curtis Giron Solomon, 21, and Jack Emile Wheeler, 25. They have all been charged with burglary of a business and evading detention on foot.
