35-acre forest fire prompts evacuation in Bastrop County, officials say

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas

Bastrop County residents were evacuated Saturday after a forest fire engulfed 35 acres, firefighters said.

Residents were allowed back into their homes around 9 o'clock according to Bastrop Fire Chief Mark Wobus.

Several Bastrop County fire departments were on the scene with assistance from Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Travis County Starflight and Austin Police Department Aircraft.

As of 10:50 p.m., the fire was 65 percent contained according to the Texas Forest Service.

The fire has been dubbed the Royal Pines Fire.
