HOUSTON - Some 32 people who have a gang nexus or have open warrants were arrested at a northeast Harris County apartment complex, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

HCSO said multiple agencies participated in an initiative to enforce civil injunctions at the Haverstock Hills Apartments on Aldine Bender and the Eastex Freeway. The arrests happened between March 25 and March 26.

Deputies said they also confiscated weapons and drugs.

According to HCSO, the 2010 gang injunction banning suspected gang members from entering the 57-acre "safety zone" was the first in the county. Since then the injunction has been expanded to include three other apartment complexes and two more schools in a 217-acre area.

HCSO, the Aldine Independent School District Police Department, the Katy Independent School District Police Department, the Spring Branch Independent School District Police Department, ICE, HUD, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the Office of the Inspector General, and the Houston Police Department all took part in the initiative.
