HOUSTON - Three west Harris County massage parlors were raided on Wednesday, but only one arrest was made.
Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables continued their crackdown of massage parlors set up along Highway 6. They've been getting a lot of complaints about the businesses lately.
Wednesday's simultaneous lunchtime raids had mixed results.
The parlors are located in strip centers within a one-mile radius of Highway 6 and Clay Road.
Police said they believe they are fronts for prostitution.
"(It's) bad for children. I wouldn't let my kids come in here, nowhere around here. It wouldn't be right," resident Edward Guerra said.
The deputies made one arrest at the Mimosa Massage Parlor for operating without a license, a class C misdemeanor.
The online ads for the Mimosa seem to offer more than just a rubdown. It was the second bust in two weeks.
But down the street, Miami Massage was closed when officers arrived, and the Pearl massage parlor one block away was locked tight.
Deputies said they believe they were tipped off.
"It appears to me they are connected in some way so all the phones start ringing. We hit this one first. All the other ones kind of locked down," said Capt. Michael Coleman with Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office
Constables said they will keep raiding the massage parlors, looking for illegal activity.
