HOUSTON - More than two dozen animals had to be rescued from a pet grooming salon in Montrose after a house next door caught fire.

Houston fire officials said the fire started Tuesday morning in the back attic of a home in the 2000 block of Sul Ross Road near South Shepherd Drive.

Officials said the Gizzie's Grooming Shop had to be evacuated because of the smoke coming from the fire next door. The pets were then taken to another location.

Fire officials said there were no injuries and the pets were never in any danger.

Investigators said the HFD Arson unit is investigating the fire's cause.
