22-year-old charged after officer-involved shooting in NW Houston

HOUSTON – Dustin Salinas, 22, has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon after a May 20 shooting incident in the 5000 block of Bingle in northwest Houston.

According to police, Houston Police Department robbery investigators saw Salinas, a robbery suspect, leave an apartment complex in northwest Houston.

When marked HPD units pulled Salinas over on the Northwest Freeway at Bingle, he got out of the car with a gun in his hand and pointed it at HPD officers, according to police.

Senior Police Officer J. Rodriguez fired multiple shots at Salinas, who was wounded and taken to the hospital.

Rodriguez was not injured in the incident.

Police later determined the car was stolen.

As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions, as well as the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
