18-wheeler crash ends with animal waste spilled all over roadway in northeast Houston

HOUSTON – A massive cleanup effort is underway after a traffic accident caused an 18-wheeler to spill animal waste all over the road.

The accident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday on Collingsworth at the Eastex Freeway, authorities said.

Police said a car attempting to make a left turn in a non-turn lane crashed into the 18-wheeler. This caused the truck to crash into the U-turn lane and spill its load all over the roadway, authorities said.

The U-turn lane and one other lane were closed as crews work to clean up the spill.

It took six hours to clean the mess. The lanes have since reopened.
