HOUSTON – A woman who was gunned down Saturday was killed by her ex-boyfriend, who later killed himself, according to police.
The shooting was reported about 11:30 a.m. on Greens Parkway near Ella Boulevard.
According to Houston police, 40-year-old Johnny Green rented a car that his ex-girlfriend, 28-year-old Antoinett Sloan, wouldn't be familiar with, waited for her and then shot her in the head as she walked to her car.
Police said Green fled the scene, called his family and confessed to killing Sloan. He said he was going to kill himself and told his family where they could find his body, police said.
Officers responded to a parking lot on the Katy Freeway service road near Sherwood Forest Street, where they found Green's body in the rental car.
Father mourns daughter
The victim's father, Anthony Sloan, said his daughter was shot in the back of her head as she was walking up to her parked vehicle inside Pine Lake Village Apartments in north Houston.
"I can hear my wife shouting and screaming and come to find out my daughter had been murdered cold-blooded," Anthony Sloan said.
Anthony Sloan said his daughter was a dedicated single mother who brought joy anywhere she went.
"She was an outstanding individual, very loving, very caring. She was an awesome daughter and will never be forgotten," he said.
