Chase ends with 2 in custody in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – A chase that began Monday in west Houston ended with two people taken into custody in southwest Houston.

The chase began after a robbery was reported at a T-Mobile store on Eldridge Parkway and Westheimer Road where a group of robbers cleaned out the safe, police said.

The armed suspects walked into the cellphone store around noon while a third suspect waited inside a getaway car, police said. The suspects left after stealing cellphones, watches and earbuds during the robbery, police said.

The suspects left in the getaway vehicle but abandoned the vehicle and the driver and switched to a new car blocks away from the scene. The suspects were spotted by officers on the Westpark Tollway, police said. The chase began and lasted about 2 miles until the gunmen abandoned their vehicle at a Comfort Inn and Suites at the intersection of Hillcroft Avenue and Southwest Freeway and attempted to run away from the scene, police said.

The suspects were soon captured.
