2 injured in explosion after tractor hits gas line in Fort Bend County, deputies say
BEASLEY, Texas – Two people were injured in an explosion after a gas line was struck in the Beasley area, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the leak happened around 11 a.m. Friday on Hamlink Road near Kacal Road.
Authorities said workers were mowing lawns in the area when one of the men driving a tractor hit the gas line, causing an explosion. Two of the workers were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries and are in stable condition.
A shelter-in-place order was issued but has since been lifted and evacuees have returned to their homes, officials said.
Firefighters will continue to monitor a 100-yard perimeter of the pipeline.
